The Exchange Place Alliance, in collaboration with the Powerhouse Arts District Neighborhood Association, invites experienced sculptors to submit proposals for the installation of a large-scale sculpture at the Art Walk. This project seeks to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area and contribute to the cultural and artistic vibrancy of Jersey City.

The selected sculpture should:

  • Harmonize with and enhance the aesthetics of the surrounding space (Note: the installation site is between a dog park and a preschool).
  • Reflect the cultural, industrial, and artistic vibrancy of Jersey City.
  • Be constructed from durable materials suited for long-term outdoor display.
  • Engage and inspire the community through creative design and conceptual impact.

Budget of $50,000 – $75,000, inclusive of all materials and installation costs.

The selected artist will be required to enter into a formal contract with the Exchange Place Alliance. The Exchange Place Alliance reserves the right to reject any or all submissions.

Submission Requirements:

Interested artists must submit the following:

  1. Artist Statement: A brief overview of the artist’s background, artistic philosophy, and approach to public art.
  2. Project Proposal: A detailed description of the proposed sculpture, including dimensions, materials, and conceptual vision.
  3. Visuals: Sketches, drawings, or renderings of the proposed sculpture.
  4. Budget Breakdown: A detailed cost estimate covering all aspects of the project, including fabrication, transportation, and installation.
  5. Timeline: A proposed timeline for the project, including key milestones from concept to completion.
  6. References: Contact information for at least three professional references or examples of past public art projects.

 

Evaluation Criteria:

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • Artistic merit and originality.
  • Alignment with the site’s aesthetic and community impact.
  • Feasibility and durability for outdoor installation.
