We invite you to explore O’Hanlon Center’s Visual Perception in our May exhibit: LUMINOSITY: Reflections on Light.
The emphasis on luminosity may be reflected by use of various mediums, or it may be an intrinsic part of the subject matter. Light can focus the viewer’s eye on rich shadows, bathe an entire scene, emphasize contrast, or capture an incandescent darkness. Radiance or luminosity can reflect mood or atmosphere, whether brilliant or illuminating ethereal subtleties. Light can also be a surface effect; some artists varnish paintings to give them a gloss. The contrasts of Light and Dark are often infused with symbolic meaning, inviting the viewer to explore their own projections as they experience the artwork.
We invite artists to stretch their creative wings and invite us to experience new frontiers of something unexpected. Works in all media are welcome, including sculpture/3D work.
Contemporary, expressionistic, abstract, exploratory, and/or experimental entries encouraged. O’Hanlon Center for the Arts emphasizes the creative process and the continued pursuit of meaning and authenticity through observation, exploration, and experimentation.
