Ignite Studio at the Hamilton East Public Library in Fishers seeks submissions for “Synesthesia”, our upcoming juried exhibition. We are seeking art in a variety of mediums for this juried group exhibit with cash awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
ABOUT “Synesthesia”
Synesthesia is a rare condition which causes a person to experience more than one sense simultaneously. People with “sound-color” synesthesia see specific colors when they hear certain sounds or music. Sounds appear like colors in the mind. Abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky was thought to have sound-color synesthesia and described his experience with this condition as being so powerful that it drove him to abandon his law career to be an artist.
In celebration of this phenomenon, we are looking for pieces that relate to color, sound, or both. Do you love color? Have you ever felt influenced by sounds or music when creating artwork? Do you frequently receive attention for your use of bright hues in your work? Do your pieces appear rhythmic or musical in nature?
