Open Call for Artists to Participate on a BRONZE Relief
‘Pride of Parramore’ for Fire Station 2

WHAT:

The City of Orlando is seeking local artists to submit preliminary conceptual renderings for a bronze relief for the wall in front of the brand new FIRE STATION 2 in the Parramore district. The ‘Pride of Parramore’ is a very exciting addition to the community, and this commission should likewise embrace the community. The Public Art Advisory Board makes final recommendations for artist selected.

The station has a rich history borne from stories of inspiration and determination. The firefighters have served Station 2 with dedication, heroism and pride and want this representation to honor Station 2 firefighters of the past, present and future. The ‘Wall’, sits in front of the newly built station on the SW corner. It’s 5 foot height and 8 foot width will offer an amazing and solid area for a BRONZE Relief to become an historic part of this community. Although not required to be incorporated, the words, ‘PRIDE OF PARRAMORE’ state an inherent feeling within the community that spans decades of culture, community and honor.

The artist should be disciplined in sculpting and have a professional knowledge of bronze technique. The American Bronze Foundry has been contacted and is aware of this scope and call for artists. They recommend an open communication with the artists through the entire process to ensure the project falls within the stated budget.

The artwork submission should include the mounting concept as well, whether a stand-off mount, bracket or suspension, these will be as important to the design as the relief or work itself.

A $22,500 budget is in place for the final completion of this amazing project. An Artist Honorarium in the amount of $2,500.00 will be included for the commissioned work.
