artlessBastard is calling for 2D & 3D works of art, in all mediums – excluding performance art or film – for their midsummer ‘REJECTED’ large group exhibition. Since art is so subjective and our brand has thrived on having unexpected, unconventional approaches to art… we look forward to seeing those pieces you LOVED and couldn’t believe didn’t get accepted into whatever show you originally submitted them to!

Our customers embrace all works – traditional or contemporary – across all mediums. And though it’s true that based on wall-space alone, we’ll have to ‘reject’ some pieces… we plan to pack as much awesome art as possible into our gallery for this fun summer show.

ACCEPTABLE SIZES: 2D WORK: All 2D work must be ready to hang on a wire and framed or on gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. There’s no size limit on 2D work, but shipping over 50” is expensive. 3D WORK: All 3D pieces must be able to fit through a doorframe.
NOTE: We no longer accept unframed metallic photographic prints due to their fragile nature. Photographic submissions are still welcome, but must be framed and NOT floating/metallic prints.

SALES: All work must be for sale. Artists can determine their own pricing. Artists will receive 85% of sale, gallery retains 15%.

SUBMISSION FEES: A $20 submission fee will be charged for each piece and artists may submit up to six (6) pieces per exhibition. There are no additional hanging fees/show fees once accepted.

STUDENTS: Students age 16+ are also encouraged to apply. Students able to provide a valid student ID at the time of entry are eligible for a $5 discount off jurors’ fee.

AWARDS: At least 65 pieces will be included in the exhibition. Best in Show & add’l awards will be named. Winners will earn a certificate of their achievement & additional promotion in media press-releases.

COMPENSATION FOR WORK SOLD: Within 10 business days of the show close, all payments will be sent via business check to the artist’s address on record. Artists outside the US will be paid via credit card. No artist payments will be made in cash and artists may not collect any payments onsite/in-person.

TAX: All sales tax generated by the sale of work will be collected by the gallery and paid directly to required government agencies. All artists must be willing to accept 1099’s after the calendar year concludes under the category of “1099 Misc. Income” as required by state/fed gov’ts. All artists are responsible for claiming income on their personal or business tax-returns & the gallery is not responsible for any artist’s failure to do so.

DELIVERY/SHIPPING: Artists are responsible for delivering their own work. The gallery will open special hours for a period of 2+ days to accept incoming work. Work that arrives damaged will not be exhibited. Artists choosing to ship their work are responsible for shipping & insurance. Once delivered and hung, works may not be withdrawn by the artist prior to the end of the show.

COPYRIGHTS: All artists are responsible for ensuring their subject matter does not include any copyright infringements. The artist waives artlessBastard of all legal responsibility if an artist’s subject is challenged by another party for copyright infringement. We assume that by submitting art, you have secured any required releases and are not in violation of any laws.

MEDIA/PROMOTIONAL CONSENT: All artists agree that if their work is shown in our space, they consent the gallery may use images for gallery event advertising & social media promos. SECURITY: Though DePere is a safe community with a low crime rate and every effort has been made to ensure the safe display of your art, the gallery holds no responsibility or liability in the event that a work is stolen or damaged. Individual works are not insured. The artist, not the gallery, assumes all risks when providing their work for display. By submitting work to be displayed at the gallery, the artist waives their right to seek any loss in the event work is damaged.

RETRIEVAL OF UNSOLD WORK: The gallery will contact artists with unsold work & will open special hours for a period of 2-3 days so artists can pick-up their unsold pieces. If an artist cannot retrieve their work in-person, all return shipping must be organized and paid direct by the artist. Though multiple efforts will be made to contact artists during & after show-close, any unsold work that remains unclaimed or pre-arranged for return within 5 business days after show-close becomes property of the gallery and will be moved offsite, donated or sold.
