Exhibition Description: Open to all artists from the international community, ‘GrassRoots’ juried by Pamela Callahan and Deb Flagel, seeks to highlight the interconnectedness of our natural world through social, economic, philosophical and spiritual interactions. How do these ideologies guide to protect our vast, yet fragile ecosystems which are contained in but not limited to wilderness, rural, suburban and urban environments.

**Works in all media are welcome.

The application fee for WMG’s juried exhibitions is $30 for up to three images of work with addition of one detail view per work, if needed. A limited number of artists who experience financial hardship may be exempt from paying the entry fee; please send us an email to request a fee waiver to: general@womanmade.org. Artworks do not have to be recent, and there is no restriction in the creation date. Applicants should submit an artist’s statement of max. 250 words, explaining how their work relates to the exhibition’s themes. Accepted artworks must not exceed 72″ horizontally and must not have been previously shown at WMG.

Curators: Pamela Callahan + Deb Flagel

Pamela Callahan was born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and received a B.A. in Studio Art from Lawrence University. For fifteen years, Pamela lived and worked in Chicago, where she exhibited widely. She was involved with Woman Made Gallery for the duration of her time in the city, as volunteer, gallery director, and advisor. In 2004, Pamela returned to Wisconsin and co-created Otter Creek Arts, a rural art studio amidst the hills and valleys of the Driftless Area. https://ottercreekarts.com

 

Deb Flagel was born in Michigan and raised in Indiana. She graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington with a B.S. in Art Education. After spending several years in Washington DC, she returned to the Midwest to attend The School of the Art Institute of Chicago receiving an MFA in Visual Communication.
