Theme of artwork to be submitted:
MELTING POT/MELTING POINT
The Melting Pot is a metaphorical reference to the American ideal of a society becoming more homogeneous, with different elements fusing harmoniously together, to create one common culture. The Melting Pot also represents the encaustic technique, as heating the material to the Melting Point is an essential step in creation. For this exhibition, we invite artists who work in encaustic or cold wax to interpret MELTING POT/MELTING POINT as it is reflected in their own lives, experiences, ethnicities and cultures. It will be a coming together of many points of view, with the result being a true expression of our differences, yet a celebration of living and working together. Juror, Francisco Benitez, will make his selections based on interpretation of the “Melting Pot/Melting Point” theme as well as the quality of the submitted work.
Eligibility
This Exhibition is a National Exhibition, open to all encaustic/wax artists who are a member of either organizations of Encaustic Art Institute (EAI), or International Encaustic Artists (IEA). Artists may enter up to three images per entry for review. Only one (1) piece per artist may be selected for the exhibition. Do not send “detail” images of paintings. ALL PAINTINGS MUST BE FOR SALE.
Artwork and Image Requirements
Artists can enter up to 3 (three) images with a maximum size restriction of artwork being 36″ x 36″ for 2-d work, and 36 x 24 x 24″ for 3-d work. All works must be for sale. Artists will receive 50% of final sale, and 50% will be divided between EAI and IEA non-profit organizations. Shipping costs of sold artwork will be the responsibility of the buyer. This competition is open to all artists working with or incorporating encaustic and/or wax mediums, including cold wax and mixed mediums.
