Regatta Row is now accepting applications from artists who wish to participate in Regatta Row’s 8th year, featuring 12 Adirondack Paddle chairs, and NEW THIS YEAR – Garden Art Story Poles. The project is open to all artists from the acclaimed to the amateur. Painters, sculptors, craftsmen, multi-media artists and other wildly creative people are encouraged to apply! The Jericho Arts Council (JAC) of Bainbridge hopes to sponsor at least 20 juried Artists for a five week public sidewalk exhibition of art, where selected artists will be able to express creativity upon our unique Adirondack paddle chairs, and garden story poles, following our Theme “Regatta Byways – Scenes Along the River.”
JAC will provide artists with a handmade, unprimed chair or story pole (or up to three of varying sizes), paint generously donated by Golden Artist Colors, and a stipend of $130 for the adult chairs and $50 for one pole, $75 for two, $110 for all three. Cash awards of $50 to $100 will be granted in five categories. Chairs and poles will be picked up in Bainbridge, NY (unless other arrangements are made) in mid February. Completed project will be delivered to Bainbridge, NY on or before April 23, 2022. Artists will be promoted with bio’s on the JAC website as well as in a media conference, regional press releases, posters, social media and on maps of the Art Trail. For five weeks, photos of each creation will be posted on the website along with the opportunity for bidding in advance of the Live Auction slated to take place on Saturday, May 28 at the 59th General Clinton Canoe Regatta.
Art will be displayed on Bainbridge sidewalks from April 27 until Memorial Day weekend. Bainbridge, like dozens of other Towns and villages in this area, is attempting a grass roots revitalization of the community and this is one of the efforts to support the JAC. Proceeds from the May 28 Art Auction will go to the Jericho Arts Council to support our Artists & Musicians and to create future events.
