Fine Cut is a collection of short films from SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SCHOOLS ONLY ranging from from cutting-edge animation to the best in documentary cinema, this festival calls out for filmmaking’s most original in all genres. All short films selected will be part of one of a series of half-hour broadcast episodes on KCET, and all accepted shorts are eligible for awards in the Competition.
The finalists will be judged by an expert panel and will also become part of the Viewer’s Choice Competition, where filmmakers will have a chance to let their peers vote online.
Winners in the following categories, Documentary, Animation, Narrative and Viewers Choice from the festival will have an opportunity to be a part of one of the The American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase competition at the annual Cannes
International Film Festival.
Interested filmmakers currently enrolled in Southern California film schools can submit their short films (25 minutes or under) up until May 25, 2018 for consideration at FilmFreeway.com. Four Honorees in the categories of Documentary, Animation, Narrative and Viewers Choice will have an opportunity to be a part of the most important event on the global film calendar, the 72nd annual Cannes International Film Festival, in May of 2019 thanks to a partnership with The American Pavilion, the epicenter of American hospitality and communication at the world’s largest film market.
