Soroptimist International of Fulton and Montgomery Counties is extending a call for artists to participate in its Art Show in October entitled “Best for Women.” The show will take place in the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Art Gallery, located at the Chamber’s office at 2 N. Main St., Gloversville.
Soroptimist is looking for artists who live or work in the region to participate who use art to express themselves professionally, as a lifestyle, or as a hobby. Artwork will be accepted in any medium, including high-end crafts, sculpture, painting, drawings, collage, etc. The artwork should be either created by a woman/women or be women focused. All two-dimensional artwork must be framed and ready for hanging. The exhibit will be displayed in the Chamber Gallery throughout the month of October. Artwork for the exhibit can be offered for sale.
Interested artists should electronically submit low-resolution photos of artwork with a description, and artist bio and/or artist statement that includes contact information, no later than Friday, Aug. 24, to the Art Show Chair Sarah Hafter at sarahhafter@gmail.com. Artists selected for the exhibit will be contacted during the week of Sept. 10. A nominal $5 fee for each piece of artwork that is accepted and displayed will be designated for Soroptimist Scholarship programs. Annually the group awards up to $10,000 to deserving students in the two-county region.
