Thanks to our wildlife artists, WHC bridges art with conservation and the human condition. This year, we are celebrating our 35th year of the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp and Print program. Since the first Stamp was released in 1985, this program has generated over $50M for habitat conservation efforts across the country.
For the 2019 Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp and Print, the Canvasback (Aythya valisineria) has been selected for the spotlight. The Canvasback, sometimes referred to as the King of Ducks by waterfowlers, is the largest diving duck found in North America. The national population declined in the 1980s as a result of a prolonged drought on the Prairies but has increased since the beginning of the 1990s.
