New Britain Youth Museum and the Art League of New Britain are seeking artists throughout the Northeast to submit entries for the Summer Solstice Sculpture Walk, “Wind, Water and Wildlife”, Contest at Hungerford Park in Berlin to be shown Friday, June 23 from 3 to 6 p.m.
The juror is artist/senior museum preparator of Yale Center for British Arts, Greg Shea. First Prize is $750, Second Prize is $500, Third Prize is $350 and Honorable Mention is a $100 gift certificate. A People‘s Choice Awards will be artists materials.
This will be a one-day, collaborative arts event that will take place on the grounds of The New Britain Youth Museum’s Nature Center at Hungerford Park at 191 Farmington Avenue in Kensington. The unique and beautiful setting on the pond trail will be the location for artists working in sculpture, public art or 3 dimensional media– to feature a work based on this years’ theme of Wind, Water and Wildlife.
There will be a full day of events, including a children’s and youth art show, artist demonstrations, and a concluding awards reception. There will be an opportunity for artists to sell their work at a designated location on the grounds.
