What do you think of when picturing something uniquely Wisconsin?

That is the question posed by the Cedarburg Art Museum for “Iconic Wisconsin,” its fourth annual juried show.

“Show us what you see, and make it shout Wisconsin,” the prospectus for the event reads.

A variety of artists are invited to submit entries for the show. Original drawings, paintings, photography, printmaking, mixed-media, sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry are accepted mediums, according to the prospectus.

“Manmade structures, unique natural landscapes as well as special foods, sports and idioms of our state are all ripe for interpretation by artists,” the release states.

Applications will be accepted through the museum’s website, www.cedarburgartmuseum.org, until midnight Sept. 15 or until the maximum of 100 applications are received.

Two entries are allowed per artist, with a $10 online entry fee for one and a $15 online entry fee for two pieces. Those paying by check will have a $20 entry fee for once piece and a $25 fee for two pieces.

Three jurors will select works that “celebrate Wisconsin’s unique attributes,” according to the release. An exhibition of the work will be displayed Nov. 8 through Jan. 7, 2018, at the museum.

Framed/finished works are limited to 30 inches for any dimension; all two-dimensional work requires a frame, making it ready for gallery hanging.

The art may be listed for sale during the exhibition with the museum taking a 35 percent commission on all art sold. For those who win awards, $1,000 in prize money will be distributed among them.
