The Hopper Prize

The Hopper Prize supports artists with direct grants and a platform for visibility. We are currently offering 5 individual artist grants in the amount of $1,000 USD each. Our grants are awarded through an open call art competition juried by leading contemporary curators. We are currently accepting submission for our Fall 2018 award cycle.

Fall 2018 Grant Program Overview

Total Awards: $5,000.00 USD in unrestricted grants for visual artists
+ 5 artists will each receive $1,000.00 USD in unrestricted grant awards
+ 30 artists will have their work archived at hopperprize.org
+ Early applications will be considered for Instagram artist features @hopperprize

Jurors

We work with leading contemporary art curators to select grant winners and finalists. The Hopper Prize is a merit based grant. Recipients are chosen based on the quality of their work as determined by the curators for that award cycle. For Fall 2018, grant winners will be selected by:

Eligibility
The Hopper Prize is open to all artists age 18 and older working in any media. There are no restrictions on genre, subject matter, or media. We welcome applications from artists working in any and all disciplines, including painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, video, documentary, performing, experimental, conceptual, and installation practices.

Past Winners
We are committed to supporting artists from diverse cultural backgrounds at all stages of their professional careers. We view the field of visual arts in its broadest and most inclusive sense and therefore make our awards available to artists engaged in artistic practices spanning all methods of production.
